QR Code Generator
Create a downloadable PNG or SVG QR code locally, with templates, colors, size, and error-correction controls.
Local QR encoding
Create a QR code
Always scan and test the code before printing or sharing it.
The QR code is created entirely in your browser. Entered content is not transmitted.
Create a QR code locally
Enter plain text, a web address, or another text-based payload. Quick templates help format website, email, telephone, and Wi-Fi payloads. The preview updates in the browser and can be downloaded as PNG or scalable SVG. The input is not sent to this site’s server.
For a website, include the complete address beginning with https://. A QR code stores exactly what you enter; it does not verify that a link exists, is safe, or will remain available.
Error-correction levels
QR codes include redundant data that can help recover content when part of the symbol is damaged or obscured. Approximate recovery levels are:
- Low (L): about 7%
- Medium (M): about 15%
- Quartile (Q): about 25%
- High (H): about 30%
Higher correction creates a denser code for the same content. Medium is a practical default. Use higher correction when a small portion may be scratched or covered, but never place a logo over the code without extensive real-device testing.
Make QR codes easier to scan
- Keep the surrounding white quiet zone intact.
- Use dark modules on a light, plain background with strong contrast.
- Prefer short content; a short URL produces a less dense symbol than a long tracking URL.
- Print large enough for the expected scanning distance and printer quality.
- Test the final physical or digital version with multiple camera apps and devices.
Privacy and security
Although generation is local, anyone who can see or scan the finished image can read its content. Do not encode passwords, private keys, recovery codes, confidential records, or other secrets.
Users should inspect a QR code’s destination before opening it. A legitimate-looking printed code can be covered by a malicious replacement sticker, and a destination website can change after printing.
Limitations
Content capacity depends on character encoding and error-correction level. Very long input may not fit. SVG scales cleanly, but professional print workflows still require controlled physical sizing, contrast, and test scans of the final output.
