What the result includes

The primary result is the number of calendar-day boundaries between the start and end dates. The calculator also shows complete weeks plus remaining days, an exact calendar interval in years, months, and days, and a weekday count.

By default, January 1 to January 2 is one day. Turn on “Include both the start and end date” when you need an inclusive count; the same range then contains two calendar dates.

Calendar days and weekdays

Calendar days include every day of the week. The weekday result counts Monday through Friday but does not exclude public holidays. Because holidays differ by country, state, province, and sometimes employer, the weekday total should not be treated automatically as a business-day deadline.

How reversed dates are handled

You may enter an end date that is earlier than the start date. The tool reports the absolute size of the interval and clearly notes that the dates are reversed. This is useful for checking a past interval without manually swapping the fields.

Examples

Days in a non-leap year

January 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026 is 365 days. The same range expressed as a calendar interval is exactly one year.

Leap-day interval

February 28 to March 1 is two days in leap year 2024 because February 29 falls between the dates. In 2025, the same two month-and-day values are one day apart.

Inclusive event count

A trip running from Monday through Friday spans four elapsed days but includes five calendar dates. Choose inclusive counting when both arrival and departure dates should count.

Why daylight saving does not change the answer

The inputs are date-only values. The calculation compares calendar dates rather than dividing local timestamps by 24 hours. A daylight-saving day can contain 23 or 25 hours, but it still counts as one calendar day here.

Limitations

This is a general calendar tool. Legal, tax, visa, court, shipping, and contract deadlines may have special rules about weekends, holidays, cutoff times, and whether the first or last date is included. Confirm those rules with the relevant authority.
